Giving to charity is a selfless act. There’s no financial return. Generosity for its own sake creates a more compassionate, community-focused world. Modeling the value of generosity and selflessness to children makes it more likely they will continue to give as adults. This creates lasting change and a legacy of kindness. The students worked very hard all year long, but their hard work paid off in the end. Water – known as liquid of life, is becoming a rare commodity especially in rural areas of Sindh where women have to go to far flung areas to fetch water for daily usage. Children, especially girls have to walk miles to get drinking water for their families. HOPE, an NGO in Pakistan, has been helping the needy of rural as well as urban suburbs to obtain clean drinking water We at HOPE, a health NGO in Pakistan, recognize this problem and have been working relentlessly on it for a couple of years to help the water deprived individuals by constructing water wells in nearby areas. These water wells are strategically made to facilitate the community. It is indeed a laborious task to dig a well but it is worth the effort as the girls who once have to walk miles to fetch water wouldn’t have to walk those miles- instead they will be able to attend school and become an educated member of this society. It is very hard to fathom the hardships these people have to face in order to sustain a normal life such as fetching clean water for drinking. Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi, is thankful to all the donors especially Mr. Arif Jindani who has recently donated cash to construct two water wells in interior Sindh. The people of these areas are very happy to see water well in their area. One of the residents who took part in the construction process said that “We had lost hope in NGOs, government and everyone but now we are extremely happy and regained trust in NGOs. They are there to help us- better late than never!” Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi, lauded the efforts of HOPE team who went to barren areas and located villages which are in need of water wells. She is of the opinion that such small steps are necessary to bring about a positive change in the society. She hopes that many people who are able to afford will come forward and provide support to the less fortunate fellows of their country.

DSC_0167On Friday June 6th 2014, the Anaheim Plaza Hotel was the center of what is hopefully the beginning of a wonderful relationship between the HOPE Foundation and the community of Southern California. The event, hosted by Dr’s Sana Kamdar and Hera Kamdar, was a success in not only generating generous donations from the community, but also in sharing the vision of HOPE, a health NGO in Pakistan. HOPE an NGO in Pakistan also received great acknowledgements for their humanitarian efforts. They received accolades from the Honorable Mary Su, Council Member & Two Term Mayor of the City of Walnut, Ca and from the Honorable Ali Sajjad Taj, Council Member of the City of Artesia, Ca. Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi, lauded the efforts of HOPE USA members for holding such a memorable event for a noble cause. Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi is hopeful that such events will be carried out in future to spread this cause to help the less fortunate of Pakistan.

We at HOPE, an NGO in Pakistan, are thankful to our donors who are kind enough to remember our organization while distributing donation items. Recently, HOPE, a health NGO in Pakistan received clothing items from Mums Heart (a company in Singapore) for the underprivileged of our community. Sue Sidik, the owner of Mums Heart, took personal interest in giving out these items to HOPE. The clothing products were distributed in far flung areas of Sindh such as Thatta, Badin, Sachal Goth, Gaddap and Gagghar (Sindh). We witnessed women smiling as the products were being handed over to them. The overall condition of the areas where the items were distributed is quite deplorable where buying clothes is considered least important. These products were surely a blessing in disguise for them. Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi, emphasized that every company should try to distribute some of the items, especially clothes, to the underserved.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi, is thankful to Mums Heart for sending these item from Singapore and is hopeful that other organizations will also come forward and play their part in spreading smiles among the less privileged of Pakistan.

HOPE is an educational  NGO which is being supported by many national and multinational companies. Recently, HOPE, an NGO in Pakistan received grants for 40 students of HOPE School Zia Colony, Gadap and Muzaffarabad. MGYW has been supporting HOPE for the past four years. MGYW arranged an event to distribute scholarship checks to fourty students of HOPE Schools which was attended by many significant personalities including Farhana Mohammad, President MGYW. Merit Grant for Young Women’s vision of empowering women through education addresses the deplorable educational and social status of women in Pakistan. Without the opportunity provided by MGYW many girls from impoverished families would be prone to child abuse, forced marriage, exploitation as laborers, and beggary.  MGYW is not only increasing educational opportunities for qualified girls, it is also enhancing the lives of their families. HOPE, an educational NGO in Pakistan, is grateful to be a part of MGYW’s grant receiving organizations and is hopeful that it will keep on helping the underserved of our community.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi is of the view that such organizations should come forward and help the impoverished of our society. Through organizations like MGYW, impoverished girls get a chance to get education and become an educated member of this society.

Around 175,000 Thari families have left their homes, heading towards other districts and around 135 have been reported dead (Reports from Mithi hospital). Tharparkar’s reservoirs are nearly all dry and the shortage of food is critical. What is more, the health facilities in the region are far from satisfactory. Large numbers of livestock have also perished due to the severe climatic conditions. Every living soul in Thar, no matter what age or gender, is a victim of the devastating drought and famine ravaging the area. One can see the corpses of those who have died of hunger and thirst while the carcasses of animals are scattered everywhere. Reports received from Diplo, Chhachhro, Islamkot, Dahli and Nagarparkar suggest that many poor Thari families were moving to barrage areas, along with their livestock. Relatives of the patients admitted to the hospital in Mithi complained that its administration was not providing medicines and they were forced to buy expensive drugs which are out of their reach.

It is reported that many lactating mothers in various parts of the province have been unable to produce milk for their children because of their poor diet, while there are chronic epidemic and pandemic diseases in the province. Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi said that it is not as if the phenomenon of drought in Thar has come out of the blue; the region experiences drought every two to three years. HOPE, a health NGO in Pakistan carried out a basic survey in which they found out that at the moment the community requires dry ration, medicines and clean water. HOPE, an NGO in Pakistan, plans to provide relief in the affected region by providing free of cost medicines, setting up medical camps and distribution of food items. It is an open request to all organizations, individuals and communities to come forward and help people of Thar through HOPE’s relief activities.

Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, child specialist in Karachi Imageis of the view that It is the need of the hour to learn from this debacle and ensure such a catastrophe does not recur.
