Archives for the month of: May, 2020

Sometimes a small thing you do can mean everything in another person’s life. Charity does not always represent giving lavish and huge items to the needy ones, instead it can symbolize by fulfilling their basic needs such as providing basic food requirements. The best strategy for providing food to the community is by bringing it to their doorsteps.

Communities residing in far flung areas across Karachi are indeed very poor and during Ramadan, HOPE, a Health NGO in Pakistan provides help to them in the form of food distribution. Recently in the underprivileged communities of the society; HOPE has distributed biryani packets and iftar boxes among the children and the underprivileged families in different rural areas of Karachisuch as, Rehri Goth, Bhens Colony, Zia Colony, Bhittaiabad, SachalGoth, Gadap, DhabeyJee, Ghaggar, Link Road, Bilal Colony, Manzoor Colony, Shah Ghazi Goth, Mujahid Colony etc.Iftar boxes and biryani is also distributed in the adjoining rural areas.

The Iftar boxes and biryani packets were distributed to a very large number of people in these areas – bringing joy and smiles to their faces. Such distribution of food by HOPE, An NGO in Pakistan is conducted on a regular basis throughout the month of Ramadan, in rural slum areas and in the villages on the edge of the city. These people were delighted to receive the iftar boxes, as they belong to the low-income class who cannot afford to enjoy eating a good Iftar like we do. The smile on the faces of these children is priceless.

These activities are carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, A Child Specialist in Karachi,in the selection of the sites for the food distribution.

So far approximately 5000 biryani packets and ration boxes have been distributed in these lesser privileged areas. Around 300 packets are distributed daily during Ramdan to bring smiles on the faces of these children and alleviate their hunger in this holy month. The team will continue to distribute Iftar and Briyani boxes till the end of Ramadan.

The overwhelming deeds along with the tireless efforts of HOPE, have always been worth admiring. The acknowledgement and appreciation of our work boosts up our team’s motivation level committing them to put in even greater effort in doing so.

A major chunk of the Pakistani population is deprived of the basic necessities of life from which one of the most important is food. In a recent study conducted by the US, Pakistan ranks 106 among the 119 countries on Global Hunger Index and is expected to rise in the near future. HOPE- an NGO in Pakistan, carrying out its philanthropic activities is in one way responsible to feed these hunger stricken populations. Communities residing in far flung areas across Karachi are indeed very poor. Hence, during Ramadan, HOPE does not forget them and provides help to them as well in the form of food, Eid clothes and ration distribution.

HOPE-A Health NGO in Pakistan distributes rations among the poor every year throughout Ramadan. The teams were sent to distribute the ration bags among the needy households at various HOPE centers including hospitals and schools, where the vans filled with food items and ration bags were sent to different slum areas of Karachi, rural areas of Sindh, Muzaffargarh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for distribution among needy households. Recently food items and ration bags were distributed at the door steps of needy families to avoid hurting their feelings. More than 1500 ration bags were distributed among the needy families residing there. These areas include, Ghaggar, Bhens colony, Link road and Dhabeji etc.

The team will continue to distribute ration till the end of Ramadan. The children and patients are delighted to receive the ration as they belong to the low-income class who cannot even afford to buy basic grocery and enjoy their Ramadan and Eid. Seeing the innocent smiles on the faces of the children is extremely gratifying and it affirms our belief that all the efforts, the hassle, the obstacles are worth going through just to see a smile on the faces of these children who can’t afford to enjoy the festivity of Ramadan and Eid to its fullest. These activities are carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla – a child specialist in Karachi who is the main pillar behind HOPE.
